PEORIA -- Voter approval of $35 million in bonds to upgrade the Peoria Public Library system has library officials planning the upgrade, and seeking public input.
Here's a chance to tell them what you think about costs, renovation plans and a site for a new library.
Two meetings will be held this week, the first at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 at the Main Street Branch of the library, 107 NE Monroe, and the second at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 12 at the Lakeview Branch of the library, 1137 Lake Ave.
Library board members and others will answer questions and update the audiences on the plans so far.
The advisory referendum passed last year with a 72 percent vote. But only the Peoria City Council can approve the plans and issue the bonds.
More information is available from the library's website.
UPDATE, 4/8/08: Roberta Koscielski of the Peoria Public Library in an e-mail states that the Peoria City Council will address the issuance of bonds at 6:15 p.m. on May 20.
