UPDATE 2/18/09: Commanday's supporters believe the symphony board is not getting information or messages. If you have a message for the board, especially your decision not to purchase season tickets or donate next year if Commanday is ousted, call or email the symphony and REQUEST that the FULL BOARD receive your message. Send the e-mail to executive director Judy Furniss (execdir@peoriasymphony.org) or call at 309/637-2787.
PEORIA -- It's not too late to sign the petition to the Peoria Symphony Orchestra board of directors asking them to retain music director/conductor David Commanday.
The ad-hoc group circulating the petition has found a way for people to fax a signature to them. They plan to present the petitions to the board at its meeting on Thursday, Feb. 19, at noon at Lakeview Museum. (Anyone who wants to join them can show up at 11:45 a.m.)
To sign, here's what to do:
Meet up with some of the group from 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Panera's Restaurant, 2601 W. Lake Ave, off Sterling in Peoria. People will be there to take signatures.
Or write out the following: 'Please retain Commanday with full Music Director/Conductor authority with a 3 year contract at the same pay or higher.' Sign it. Then fax to: 866-252-3496.
