PEORIA -- A new feminist documentary, Miss Representation, begins on Friday, July 1 at 6 p.m. at the Peoria Theater in the Landmark Center, 3225 N. Dries Lane, followed by a discussion led by activists from the Peoria chapter of the National Organization for Women and free pizza in the lobby.
The 89-minute film "explores the lack of representation of women in positions of power in the U.S."
It aims to "challenge the pervasive message in media that womens' value and power lie only in their youth, beauty, and sexuality," the film maker said. It's played at many film festivals throughout the US.
The show runs through the following week, and perhaps longer.
