PEORIA -- Fed up with Obamacare bashing? Here's a way to speak out.
The Illinois chapter of Alliance for Retired Americans will hold a demonstration for Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act, at noon on Thus., Aug. 22 at the office of Cong. Aaron Schock, R-Peoria. It's in the federal courthouse, 100 NE Monroe, Room 100, in Peoria.
Schock and the Republicans have voted 40 times to repeal Obamacare, the group says. But "thanks to the law, retired Americans are gaining access to more affordable, simplified health care. Don't let Schock take us backwards."
My take: Schock has an appalling voting record on issues that are important to his constituents in the 18th District, such as this one and others.
If only his constituents knew, he might be vulnerable, but that would take a personable candidate with plenty of money, as Schock's wealthy backers such as Caterpillar, Inc. keep him well supplied with dollars to do their bidding.
Did anyone notice Schock's recent shift to favor immigration reform? It's not for humanitarian reasons -- Cat wants cheap foreign workers.
Maybe the medical/industrial complex will pressure Schock to support Obamacare, though it's not likely.
Are there any dot.com zillionaires out there who want a real challenge and could unseat Schock?
(Schock's office is in the 17th District now, but he's not moving it. He also makes frequent appearances in the 17th District, such as the recent one at Bradley University. He's a genius at getting publicity, and suppressing unfavorable news. Will the mainstream news media cover this event? Stay tuned.)
Anyway here's a chance for the 99 percent to speak out, without signing up for a scripted 'town hall meeting.'
