PEORIA, IL -- What could be better on a warm but gloomy afternoon than a classical music concert featuring some of the greatest music ever written!
That was the concert on Sept. 17 at Bradley University's Dingeldine Music Center, with its wonderful acoustics and intimate setting.
The event was termed "Timeless Melodies," and featured four brilliant musicians, Seul Lee, violin; Barbara Hedlund, cello; Chee Hyeon Choi, piano and Courtney Huffman, soprano.
In a one-hour chamber concert they performed great works from Haydn, Bach, Kreisler, Mozart, R. Strauss and Beethoven.
Huffman was especially interesting as she acted, sort of, the pieces as she sang them. She is very attractive and has a terrific voice. She's had great reviews elsewhere, and now teaches voice at Bradley U.
How can anyone be interested in rock, rap, hip-hop, country or any popular music (with the possible exception of the Great American Songbook and some Broadway and jazz) when compared with the brilliance of classical music.
This was a lovely, lovely event, and free. Thanks!
