PEORIA, IL -- Park Board member Robert Johnson announced his candidacy for Park Board president on Jan. 22, outdoors in freezing weather.
That didn't bother Johnson, who is tall, strong and vigorous. He spoke briefly and said several times that he strongly opposes selling any park district land. He has been a park district trustee since 1997, serving as board vice president, chair of the finance committee and on other posts.
He stood strongly against the proposed apartments in Riverfront Park. I endorse him wholeheartedly.
The election is April 2, and includes Peoria, Peoria Heights, West Peoria and parts of Dunlap.
