PEORIA, IL -- The most shocking item in today's Peoria Journal Star is an ad, from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
It seems IDOT is thinking of replacing the eastbound lane of the McClugage Bridge!
Say what? I drove over that bridge yesterday, Aug. 9, and it was just fine.
What on earth is IDOT thinking?
There are poor roads everywhere, but they are targeting this?
If the structure holding up the bridge is the issue, then fix it without dismantling the bridge for months.
The ad was to inform the public of a meeting, from 5 - 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at the Washington School Gym, 3706 N. Grand Boulevard in Peoria. Grand Blvd. is the red light just before Prospect, going east.
I plan to be there to ask hard questions about this project.
